Valencia Basket was
unable to break their particular curse on the Gran Canaria court (they have
chained eight defeats in a row in this arena) and fell by 95-89 in a game in
which they fought until the end to come back but could not finish the comeback
after a bad exit to the last quarter. The Taronja squad was ahead for most of
the first half thanks to their tremendous shooting efficiency (19/23 in field
goals) with inspiration from Prepelic, Harper, Radebaugh and Claver, but they
were leading by five to rest for the good offensive work of the locals and
their own turnovers. The yellow team maintained the accuracy and chained four
triples in the third act to take the lead and get winning in the final quarter.
The Taronja team got up from a bad start in the last quarter and got one point
down with the support of Rivero, but some of their own mistakes and the fact
that the local offense did not stop made the Taronja comeback impossible
despite two final three-pointers from Jones tightened the game in the last
minute.
